There are
four options that exist to ship cars, motorcycles, trucks and other vehicles internationally.
1. RORO SERVICE
Roll-on Roll-off is the
easiest and cheapest solution for transporting vehicles internationally
Because of its efficiency, RORO shipping is the most popular method for car companies as well as exporters and importers of conventional and specialized vehicles (for industries such as mining, construction, agriculture, etc).
● When you use RORO transportation, your vehicle is
simply driven directly onto a specific RORO vessel using its own power or a self-propelled modular transporter.
● RORO transport is convenient and involves minimal lifting, ensuring a safe shipping process. Simply drive on at the original location and off at the final destination. There are no expensive haulage and container costs, and normally port and customs procedures are not too complex or time-consuming.
● Thanks to our network of RORO carriers, we are amongst the best roro shipping companies. Our
RORO shipping services are available from ports all around the world including locations such as
the USA and
Canada.
● We provide door-to-door and port-to-port services to ship any type of vehicles that can be rolled on and off the vessel. Including cars, trucks, semi’s, construction vehicles, tractors, trailers, mobile homes, RV’s, caterpillars, backhoes, bulldozers, railroad cars, yachts, sailboats and much more.
RORO ensures a safe shipping process with no expensive haulage or container costs.
2. LOLO TRANSPORT
LOLO stands for lift on/lift off and is an open air service. LOLO transport is a good alternative to RORO when
shipping inoperable large vehicles and equipment, such as yachts, that may not fit on a trailer.
● LO-LO transport is a
cost-efficient option as vehicles do not have to be driven onto the transporting vessel. It offers also the advantage of being available to and from any port in the world.
● LOLO vessels are equipped with cranes that assist in the lifting (for on-loading and off-loading purposes) of the vehicle or equipment. LOLO vessels have a larger container capacity than RORO and container vessels. This allows for more cargo transportation.
● However, LOLO shipping is slower and makes it a bit more complex to prepare than RORO. While RORO shipping services offer vehicle transportation by driving them on and off the ship, with LOLO you won’t be able to do so.
If you are not in a rush to get your car shipped, LOLO is an interesting alternative.
If you have strict deadlines then RORO will remain your best solution.
3. CONTAINER SHIPPING
Container shipping is the most common alternative to RORO to ship a vehicle internationally. Shipping your vehicle by container remains the
safest form of international transport as your cargo is enclosed during all the shipping process. If you are shipping a luxury car, container shipping is the perfect option. However, cost is a little more elevated than RORO shipping rates.
● Container car shipping is a great option for most vehicle types, provided they fit into the ocean container alternatives:
8 feet wide x 8 feet high x 20 feet to 40 feet long.
● Container is also the best solution to ship your car overseas, if you plan
to relocate to another country. Along with your vehicle, you can easily load your household goods and personal items inside the container, as there is usually plenty of extra space. On the contrary, with the Roll-On Roll-Off services all of your personal property must be removed from your vehicle and shipped using other methods.
4. FLAT RACK
Flat Racks are specific open top platforms where the vehicle is secured onto a metal frame before it is placed atop the water vessel. Flat rack containers come in 20' and 40' ft lengths.
● Do you need to ship your trailer or maybe your construction or agriculture equipment? Flat Rack is a frequently used shipping solution to
transport all sorts of vehicles with unusual dimensions such as heavy industrial vehicles, yachts, oversized trucks, vehicles on tracks and machinery.
